Pin Programs to the Start Menu and Taskbar
If you're like me, you use the same programs over and over again. You can create shortcuts to these programs in places that are easy to get to quickly, namely the Start Menu and the Taskbar. You do this by pinning the program to one or both of these locations.
Pinning to the Start Menu
This image shows the Start Menu as it currently sits on my computer. Let's say I want to add a program to the Start Menu there on the left side.
Navigate to the program in your programs menu. When you find the program, right-click it and select Pin to Start Menu.
It will then show up on the left side of your Start Menu when you reopen it. You can start the program from there instead of finding it in your Programs menu.
To remove a shortcut from the Start Menu, just right-click the shortcut, and select Unpin from Start Menu. The shortcut will go away.
Pinning to the Taskbar
You can also do the same thing by pinning a program to the taskbar. I do this for the programs I use most.
![]()
The method is the same as for the Start Menu above.
Navigate to the program in your programs menu. When you find the program, right-click it and select Pin to Taskbar.
It will then show up on the Taskbar. You can start the program from there instead of finding it in your Programs menu.
To remove a shortcut from the Taskbar, just right-click the shortcut, and select Unpin from Taskbar. The shortcut will go away.
