More Right-Clicking

The page on left- and right-clicking discussed the basics of what you would find if you right-clicked on a file. There are many other options open to you when you right-click, depending on the context of the file or folder at which you are looking.

Select how files are displayed

As an example, in a folder containing images, you can right-click in the folder, and the following menu will appear:

FILMSTRIP

The pictures will appear across the bottom. When you mouse-over one of them, it will show up in the space above.

THUMBNAILS

The pictures all appear as smaller versions, so you can easily pick out the picture you want in the group.

TILES

The objects in the file appear as "icons" showing the file name and other info, along with the icon of the application (program) that will open that file if it is clicked.

ICONS

Similar to Tiles, the objects are just sorted and displayed a little differently.

LIST

Just as the name implies, this is generally a raw list of the objects in the folder, containing just file names.

DETAILS

Details shows the file names, along with such information as the file size, what type of file it is, and the time and date of creation or modification. These columns can be customized to your preferences.
