Arrange Your Desktop Icons

You can right-click on your desktop and get the menu shown here. Selecting these options will allow you to sort your icons on your desktop as shown. You can play with this until you get an arrangement that you're comfortable with.

Details shows the file names, along with such information as the file size, what type of file it is, and the time and date of creation or modification. These columns can be customized to your preferences.
